Two Gibbs High School students were arrested Friday after police say the teens brought drugs and a gun to school.
Police say they received a tip that two students had brought a handgun to school. A subsequent search allegedly turned up Hydromorphone, crack cocaine and over $1,400 in cash in a locker belonging to Zaki Tyre Starks, 16. Starks later admitted his intent to sell the drugs at school, they said.
School officials say they found a Kel-Tec 9-mm semi-automatic handgun in Zicari Deon Gibbons' locker. The gun was not loaded, but the loaded magazine was also found in the locker.
The students -- both in their junior year at Gibbs -- were arrested and taken to the Juvenile Assessment Center.
Gibbons, 17, faces a felony charge of possession of a firearm on school property. Starks faces two counts of possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell.
