CAMDEN, N.J. -
An 11-year-old girl is hospitalized after being shot in the face in Camden.
It happened just before 10 p.m., Thursday on the 1300 block of Thurman Street.
Police have arrested the girl's father, 27-year old Byaer Johnson and charged him with attempted murder.
Johnson allegedly went to visit his daughter. When he was asked to leave, he picked up a handgun that he had placed on the floor and shot her in the face.
He also pointed a gun at another man and pulled the trigger, but the gun jammed. A struggle ensued and the weapon was used by the other man to shoot Johnson in the buttocks.
That man is not expected to be charged.
Johnson is being treated for his injury and is expected to be transferred to the Camden County Jail.
