VOORHEES, N.J. -

If there's some secret ingredient to success out there, Daisy Smith doesn't know it, which makes her way of finding it a little sweeter.

An accident years ago forced her to stop working. To make ends meet, she began selling take out dinners out of her home.

Included with the dinners was a one ounce cup of applesauce - Smith's homemade recipe.

Her customers loved the dinners, but couldn't stop talking about the applesauce. Many even recommended she market it.

The mother of three and grandmother of 10 took their advice, and began making and bottling the popular product at home.

Smith says her daughter, Jaconda, was working at Whole Foods at the time when she learned of a local vendor program available there. After urging her mother to submit a sample, the two won a contract to sell "Momma's Home Made Applesauce" in stores.

The family business was run out of a church kitchen for months. At times, they'd work through the night just to produce enough applesauce to sell.

With Jaconda's culinary background and Daisy's business, the two opened a takeout restaurant in Voorhees, where they're selling their products and a few other home cooked meals.

You can watch the story in the video above.
