A 6-year-old student who suddenly became ill at school and died Wednesday did not die from foul play or any infectious diseases, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said.
Jose Maria Pinto-Rosa was in the cafeteria at Cypress Creek Elementary School in Ruskin when he complained of feeling sick around 11 a.m.
Staff took him the nurses office where they say his condition deteriorated, and they called 911.
Emergency rescue crews took him to the hospital, where he later died.
The medical examiner is waiting on results of toxicology tests to pinpoint the cause of death. There is no word yet how long that will take.
