Deputies say a 28-year-old man led them on a high-speed chase throughout Manatee County overnight.
A deputy tried to pull Bryan K. Johnson over in his Honda Accord near 300 30th Avenue West, but he fled. The deputy chased him into a nearby dead end, but the sheriff's office says he charged the deputy with his vehicle.
Then Johnson got away and led deputies on a chase out of Bradenton and into Palmetto, then up Interstate 75 to the I-275 interchange.
Johnson was able to get away from another deputy, where he headed to a nearby Walmart, but an overhead watch unit was able to track his progress.
Deputies say he fled to where his mother, Linda, was in her car, but when he tried to get in, deputies arrested him. Authorities found a piece of rock cocaine with him, and he faces several charges, including aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer.
He also had several pending cases for which he was out on bond.
