TAMPA (FOX 13) -

You've probably seen Shannon Magrane in our "Good Day Tampa Bay" promo, and that's not all she's been up to.

"My life has been so crazy after Idol. I have been running everywhere, traveling, I've been to New York, California, Nashville," she said.

The 17-year-old former American Idol contestant has also been spending time in the studio.

"I recorded a song with Deborah Cox on the Jekyll and Hyde concept album," she said.

She's been on stage performing in the hit show "Broadway Rox."

"It's basically like the pop and rock of Broadway, like Rent and Rock of Ages and that funky kind of poppy vibe."

Through it all, Shannon has always found time to serve the Tampa Bay area as she performs the national anthem at Bucs and Rays Games.

"Tampa, Florida is where my heart is," she said.

Shannon is still attending classes at Blake High School, but her mind is definitely somewhere else.

"I just don't want to be in school right now. I want to go out and do a show. I want to go write some music, let's go. Like, I don't want to be in school."

She does realize the value of a good education and coming back to school after Idol is definitely interesting. It's not secret that Shannon's mom is playing a major role in her life.

Renee Magrane said, "It was a whirlwind, let me tell you."

Shannon added, "She was my best friend and she still is right now. She helps me with everything."

Renee Magrane has been acting as her manager since Idol.

"I really wanna be just mom. But getting her a lot of jobs. She's been really busy and I don't know what I'm doing," Renee laughed.

She says Shannon has always known what she's doing. She talked about being on Idol from a very young age.

"Shannon started this process at 8 years old, telling me that she was going to do that one day and I'd pat her on the back and say, that's really good honey, let's say our prayers and go to bed."

Those childhood dreams became a reality for Shannon. She now stands six feet tall, confident and ready to take on the good days ahead.
