PHILADELPHIA -

Neighbors on Monday night are reacting to the shocking discovery of a woman found burned to death in her Center City home.

What came in as a report of a fire about 12:30 p.m. Monday afternoon has now turned into a homicide investigation.

Police say the woman's body was found burning in the basement of her home on the 1700 block of Naudain Street.

According to police, the woman's body was found by her dog walker.

"She was in the basement," Chief Inspector Scott Small of the Philadelphia Police Department told FOX 29's Chris O'Connell. "Her wrists, ankles, bound behind her back and she was on fire - the fire department actually had to put the fire out."

Police say the woman was in her 30s. Neighbors tell FOX 29 she was a doctor at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and was often seen running in the neighborhood or walking her dog.

The horrifying death has left neighbors shaken.

"It's beyond comprehension that this happened on this block," one neighbor said.

Police say they did not see any signs of forced entry. At this point, investigators do not have a motive. Investigators have not officially identified the body of the woman.
