A police officer shot a dog in St. Petersburg Saturday after witnesses said it charged and attacked someone.
It happened around the 1100 block of 17th Street North.
According to the St. Petersburg Police Department, the dog got loose and bit a neighbor.
Officers arrived and tried to subdue the dog, but they say it repeatedly came after the officers.
An officer fired a shot at it. Police didn't say where the dog was hit, but they reported that it did not have life-threatening injuries.
It was taken to an animal hospital to be treated.
There was no word on the condition of the person who was bit.
