Gun owners rally around 2nd Amendment

Posted: Updated:
BROOKSVILLE (FOX 13) -

Gun owners from all across the state are sending a clear message to Washington: keep your hands off my gun.

"We have a second amendment. End of story. It's not to be changed," said Deb Howard, co-host of the Guns Across America Event.

Saturday, hundreds rallied in Brooksville at Florida's official Guns Across America event.

The pro-gun crowd railed against the president and his recent proposals to reduce gun violence, fearing he wants to take away their guns and/or limit their access in the wake of the recent tragedies, including the massacre in Newtown, Connecticut.

"These kids died. We're not disputing that. My heart goes out to all those kids, but at the end of the day, my rifle didn't do that, none of these people here, why are you coming after me?" asked Manolo Seteva.

"I think there are enough laws in place today and I think the government should enforce with what's on the books," Neil Corini said.

Attendees brought signs and wore shirts all supporting their passion for firearms.

While opponents argue there isn't a need for assault style weapons or high capacity magazines, the folks here say the problems aren't the guns or the owners. They want to see more focus on mental health issues.

"There should be more mental health initiatives, there should be people in schools protecting children and they should enforce the laws on the books," Corini said. "Law abiding citizens are not doing to do anything wrong with their guns," he added.
