There are a lot of fun things to do in Tampa Bay this weekend, and that means a lot of traffic on the roads.
The Gasparilla Children's Extravaganza is going to cause headaches for drivers in South Tampa. If you're attending the parade, avoid the area surrounding the festivities. The parade will travel along Bayshore Boulevard from Bay to Bay Boulevard to South Orleans.
Drivers are prohibited to park in the neighborhoods surrounding the parade route. If you park in the restricted areas, you will be ticketed and towed.
Parking is available in the Fort Brooke garage and a shuttle will transport parade-goers downtown to Bayshore.
The shuttle will run from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. The cost is $5 for adults. Children riding with an adult can ride for free.
Thousands of people will be getting revved up at Raymond James Stadium for Monster Jam as well Saturday. Traffic is going to be busy around Ray Jay along Dale Mabry Highway and Himes Avenue.
Lois Avenue, Westshore Boulevard and Howard-Armenia Avenue are good alternates. Doors open at 5 p.m.
And the Tampa Bay Lightning open the hockey season at the Tampa Bay Times Forum on Saturday night at 7 p.m. Channelside is going to be busy all evening with pedestrian and vehicle traffic.
Drivers can use I-4 to 21st Street to access Ybor and avoid the congestion.
