Hammonton Girl Makes It Through Round 1 'Idol' Auditions

HAMMONTON, N.J. -

Imagine living on more than 200 beautiful acres with horses, chickens and a fabulous house. It would be hard to leave right? Well, a Hammonton New Jersey girl says she'd consider it for a ticket to Hollywood.

"I love animals. Normally I'd have to feed the horses we have. I do it the mornings when it's really early. And we used to have a cow and a couple of goats," said 18-year-old Sarah Restuccio.

She considers herself a country girl. She lives and works on her family's blueberry farm in Hammonton, N.J.

"I love just how I have like an open area I can do whatever I want and whenever I want," she said.

She also likes mudding with her friends, in big trucks out in the woods.

But Sarah has another side. She shocked the judges on American Idol Wednesday night when she belted out a rap song.

It was impressive but what really wowed the judges is her performance of "Mama's Song" by Carrie Underwood. It earned her four "yes" votes from the judges, and off she goes to the Hollywood auditions.

Sarah remembers that day. She had a cold and couldn't breathe through her nose.

She said, "I sounded all nasally and had to change my song because of it." Yet, she still nailed.

"Just hearing superstars say I can make an album and be a huge country star. All those things, I didn't know what to think," said Sarah. Judge Keith Urban couldn't get past the rap and said he doesn't know who Sarah is as an artist. She responded to her idol's criticism, "I want to bring a new edgy vibe to the whole country music scene."

Her mother Sharon, grandma Sally and PopPop are still in awe.

"I was shocked, crying and happy," said Sharon. PopPop said, "I hope she goes places and I  hope she does well."

You'll have to keep watching to find out if Sarah makes it another round.

"That's all I want to do with my life is be a singer," she said.
