The mayor of Bradley Beach, N.J., helped a homeowner hoist another Christmas tree onto the beach.
The Feathermans are collecting trees from their neighbors and dumping them on the beach to help rebuild the dunes on Bradley Beach destroyed by Superstorm Sandy.
Mayor Gary Englestad said the last time they lined the beach with Christmas trees was 13 years ago.
The dunes have withstood the weather until Sandy hit.
For the most part the mayor thinks the dunes did the job of sparing Bradley Beach. This oceanfront community fared far better than some other shore towns.
Gov. Chris Christie was in Bradley Beach Monday. He said he thinks other shore communities should rebuild with high dunes.
But in some other towns, some oceanfront homeowners resist the idea because they don't want their view blocked.
For now the governor is eager for lawmakers in Washington to act Tuesday and send the state the rest of the money he said the New Jersey needs to recover from Sandy.
