Dozens arrested in Polk prostitution bust

They went out looking in search of pleasure, but it seems like the only one who walked away satisfied was Polk County's Sheriff.

The Polk Sheriff's office just wrapped up a four-day prostitution sting, and arrested at least 78 accused hookers and johns.

At a news conference on Monday, Polk's outspoken sheriff, Grady Judd, was agitated that many of those arrested are receiving federal assistance.

"You're working, paying tax money so they can take federal assistance from your tax money and buy prostitutes with it," Judd said. "Is that a victimless crime?"

Judd also stressed that many of the men are married and could be bringing home a disease to their wives. He said one man actually offered to pay an undercover female detective additional money to have unprotected sex.

The cost of the encounters were priced between $300 and $500.

The sheriff's office arrested people from all walks of life over the long weekend, ex-convicts, a microbiologist, an IT guy, and a young man training to become a law enforcement officer.
