The pilot of the single-engine plane was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities in Sarasota are investigating a fatal plane crash near the New College campus.
A single-engine seaplane carrying two people went down shortly after taking off from Sarasota Bradenton International Airport. The incident occurred at approximately 3:30 p.m.
"According to witnesses the plane never got high enough to clear the trees," said Captain Susan Pearson with Sarasota Fire Rescue. "The pilot is deceased and a 63-year-old male passenger from Michigan was transported to Tampa General Hospital."
The unidentified survivor suffered second and third-degree burns. His condition is not known. The identities of both occupants are being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
The Federal Aviation Administration has dispatched a crew to the scene to conduct an investigation.
Fortunately nobody on the ground was injured.
