Thieves targeted several Goodwill trucks Tuesday, costing the agency several thousand dollars.
According to a Goodwill spokesperson, thieves cut through a fence at the organization's facilities parking lot in Sarasota, broke into three Goodwill Industries Manasota maintenance trucks, and helped themselves to more than $5,000 worth of hand tools.
"We are a service-based industry and the shameful theft of these tools hits us hard. But it also strikes at the community we serve," Bob Rosinsky, president of Goodwill Manasota, said in a press release.
According to Rosinsky, the tools were not insured for theft. He is appealing for donations to fox the damage and replace the stolen tools.
