St. Petersburg Police investigators say excessive speed likely caused a pickup truck to slam into a wall Tuesday, killing the driver.
The truck may have been going as fast as 100 miles per hour when it hit a pole and then a wall at 5th Avenue and Park Street North, police say.
Yoni Arias, a witness said the car was traveling pretty fast.
"We heard a huge bang. It was obviously the pickup truck, and you could feel the ground. The ground even shook," Arias said.
The driver was identified Wednesday as William Charles Turner.
