Rocky the pit bull was busy chowing down on barbeque chicken Tuesday afternoon, a tasty reward from a grateful neighbor who says the dog saved her life.
It was around midnight, while Delphine Hudson was watching the end of the BCS Championship Game, when she was distracted by Rocky's barking. She says he was determined to get her attention.
"It was crazy barking, it was hysterical barking," Hudson said. "Just kept on barking and barking and barking."
The moment the mother of five stepped outside her home, she could see an orange ball of flames shooting out of her utility room. She grabbed her 8-month-old granddaughter and ran out just in time.
Neighbor Moses Williams heard the cries for help and grabbed a garden hose.
"We tried to put the fire out over the washer machine, but it couldn't come out," Williams said.

Now Tampa fire investigators will look into the cause of the late night blaze that left a family homeless, but not broken.
"I could have pulled up and it could have been their bodies leaving -- that's my momma and my baby, that's crazy, that's my heart," Chanel Jenkins said.
