(Derrick Vaccianna)A Citrus County deputy charged in an off-duty shooting has been cleared, according to the sheriff's office.
Deputy Greg Entrekin shot and killed 28-year-old Derrick Vaccianna on September 26.
According to documents from the sheriff's office and state attorney's office, the shooting was "justified use of deadly force."
Investigators say Vaccianna broke into the home of his ex-girlfriend Amanda Vance, who was dating Entrekin. According to a memo from the state attorney's office to the sheriff's office, Vaccianna went into the bedroom and confronted the two, and Entrekin shot and killed him.
Entrekin was a deputy in training, off duty, and used a personal firearm, the report said. He had not yet been issued a gun from the sheriff's office.
The sheriff's office says Entrekin had been on administrative leave, and will now resume training as a patrol deputy.
