A 12-year-old boy collapsed during the Gwinnett Basketball League all-star basketball game at the Suwanee Sports Academy on Saturday night and later died.
Jeremy Nelson, a seventh-grader at Buford Middle School, had just come out of the game when he collapsed. He was rushed to Gwinnett Medical Center where he later died.
An autopsy performed on Monday found that Nelson died of natural causes. He has fluid in his lungs, the autopsy reported.
His father, Herb Nelson, talked to FOX 5 News. He said he always knew his son was a special kid and that his loss is humbling.
Grief counselors were on hand at Nelson's school on Monday.
