Authorities in Sarasota County have arrested three men following an early morning home invasion.
The incident occurred just after 1 a.m. at a residence in the 2000 block of Palm Terrace in Sarasota.
Anthony L. Garruto, 21, Denico Stewart, 20, and Jarrett Bennett, 21, are being held without bond at the Sarasota County Jail.
According to a Sarasota County Sheriff's Office report deputies were dispatched to the scene where they spoke with three victims. Investigators say the suspects gained access to the home by force armed with a baseball bat and handguns.
They demanded cash but fled without any. The only items the trio managed to take were the victim's cell phones.
The suspects told detectives that the men were wearing dark clothing and masks.
None of the occupants were injured during the commission of the crime, although one of the victims scuffled with one of the assailants.
Shortly after the crime a deputy found Stewart walking down a nearby street. Because he matched the description of one of the suspects, one of the victims was brought over to see if he could identify him.
Stewart also appeared to have been in a scuffle. The suspect identified him and he was charged with one count of armed home invasion.
His arrest report states he confessed to the crime after he was read his Miranda rights.
Garruto and Barrett also confessed according to investigators. The investigation continues.
