TAMPA (FOX 13) -

Trevor Dooley, the man convicted of killing 41-year-old David James, will be sentenced Jan. 17.

A judge denied a motion for mistrial from Dooley's attorneys Thursday, meaning the 71-year-old must report for sentencing.

Dooley was convicted of manslaughter in the shooting death of James. He faces up to 30 years in prison.

The two were involved in an altercation at a park in a Hillsborough County neighborhood. Dooley has maintained that he shot James in self-defense.
