LUTZ (FOX 13) -

A Pasco County man is under arrest for attempting to murder a law enforcement officer, the sheriff's office says.

Deputies showed up to arrest Osvaldo Flores on domestic violence charges. He somehow managed to get his handcuffs in front of him and started kicking out the window of the patrol car, deputies said.

As the deputy pulled over into a 7-Eleven parking lot, they say Flores climbed out of the window and charged him, putting the handcuffs around his neck.

A citizen rushed over to help the deputy until more law enforcement arrived. Flores is now charged with escape and attempted murder on the officer – as well as his alleged domestic violence crime.

Flores has a long history of trouble with the law, according to records. Some of his previous charges include child abuse and possession of cocaine.
