SANDY SPRINGS, Ga. (AP) - A metro Atlanta city solicitor has resigned after officials learned she is married to a man who pleaded guilty to charges stemming from synthetic drug distribution.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution (http://bit.ly/Un3OGv ) reports former Sandy Springs solicitor Jeannine Malone resigned Wednesday after authorities learned of her connection to Thomas William Malone Jr., whom authorities say was involved in synthetic drug distribution.
Officials say the father of a Bremen teen who smoked spice - synthetic marijuana - and shot himself alerted city officials to the relationship between Malone and the former solicitor, who was sworn in on Dec. 3.
The newspaper reports Thomas Malone and his colleague Drew Green, who ran a company named NutraGenomics with Malone, each face up to 20 years in prison.
