13-year-old McKenna Pope from Garfield, N.J. wanted to get her four year old brother an Easy-Bake Oven but could only find it in pink and purple.
She started a petition to have a gender-neutral version of the beloved toy. She gathered more than 45,000 signatures.
The company that markets the oven took note.
Hasbro issued a statement saying, "We value input from our consumers and given the widespread interest in McKenna Pope's story, we extended an invitation to McKenna and her family to visit Hasbro and meet with our Easy-Bake team."
They went to the company's Rhode Island headquarters to see a prototype of a new silver and black version of the oven.
It is going to be debuting at the New York Toy Fair this year and will be in stores in the fall.
Easy-Bake oven debuted in 1963. Packaging and advertisements for the working oven, which originally baked tiny treats under an incandescent lightbulb, has only ever featured girls.
McKenna said the company promised to put boys in future ads.
