A 39-year-old man has been arrested and charged with purposefully carrying out two hit-and-run accidents in Tarpon Springs.
They happened within an hour of each other Sunday night, police said. The suspect, John Wayne Dorminy, was tracked down and arrested after the incidents, and none of the people involved suffered serious injuries.
The first happened around 8:10 p.m. at North Pinellas and Orange Street.
A driver told police he honked his horn at Dorminy, who then allegedly swung a U-turn and followed the man and his wife in their car. They told police Dorminy then pulled up alongside them and sideswiped their car.
About an hour later, two other people who were riding bikes said Dorminy hit them both with his car after a brief altercation at the Spartan Gas Station at 4 South Pinellas Avenue. Their injuries were non-life threatening, police said.
Dorminy faces several charges, including aggravated battery with a motor vehicle. He was carrying a large butcher knife when officers arrested him. He was also charged with possession of an open container.
