A 13-year-old boy is recovering Wednesday morning after a frightening dog attack in Bradenton.
Justin Curtis says he was riding his bike on Morning Glory Way when two Australian shepherds attacked him. A man says he saw it happen and tried to help, but 67-year-old Roy Levin was attacked, too.
Curtis was taken to the hospital with severe injuries. He said he thought the dogs might be friendly when they ran up to him, but that wasn't the case.
"They came right up to me and sank their teeth right into my leg," he said. "So I get off on the right side of my bike, and I tried to use my bike to fend them off, but there were two of them."
Animal services took custody of the dogs.
"An adult wouldn't have done much better," said Curtis' father, Jessie. "You know, he stayed off the ground so they couldn't get on him too good, but they did get him a few times."
It's unclear who the dogs belong to.
