Jack Klugman, the veteran actor best known for his roles in "The Odd Couple" and "Quincy, M.E.," has died, according to the Associated Press.
The AP cited Klugman's son Adam, who said his father died Monday afternoon in Los Angeles. He was 90.
In "The Odd Couple," he played Oscar, the messy and gruff half of title pair, for five seasons in the 1970s opposite Tony Randall. The show was based on the Neil Simon play.
A year after "The Odd Couple" ended, Klugman began playing Quincy, a medical examiner who helped solve murders.
The Emmy-winning Klugman survived throat cancer in the 1980s and had to learn to talk again.
He also had a prolific career on Broadway and appeared on the big screen in Sidney Lumet's "12 Angry Men" and Blake Edwards' "Days of Wine and Roses," among other films.
Krugman, the son of Russian-Jewish immigrants, is survived by his wife, two sons, and two grandchildren.
