A 21-year-old Winter Haven man spent the night in the Polk County Jail following his arrest Saturday on drug and weapons charges.
Andree Anthony Romeus allegedly kicked in the front door of his former girlfriend's apartment and threatened her with a gun.
According to a Winter Haven Police Department report the incident occurred just after 1 a.m. at the Abbey Lane Apartment complex. Investigators say he took several items from the victim's unit and caused some minor damage.
The woman was shaken up but did not suffer any physical injuries.
Romeus, who is no stranger to law enforcement, fled before police arrived but was quickly located and taken into custody. At the time of his arrest the suspect was in possession of a stolen .45-caliber handgun, more than 170 grams of marijuana – packaged for sale, some Xanax pills and other drug-related paraphernalia.
He is facing one count of armed burglary of an occupied dwelling, one count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, one count of grand theft and drug possession.
Romeus has three prior arrests in Polk County since 2010 – all drug-related.
