There were multiple ‘Zombie' sightings in Pasco County on Saturday.
Hundreds of folks took part in the Dade City 5K Zombie Run at Little Everglades Ranch. The event got underway at 9 a.m. and part of the proceeds went to the local chapter of the American Red Cross.
Leo Briceno ran in the fun run and also served as the announcer for the event.
"I didn't make it as you can see," Briceno explained as he pointed to an obvious ‘Zombie' bite on his face. "I am here to play some good music for the runners and to keep things moving. It's a good time."
The participants had to make their way through a 3.1-mile obstacle course spread out along wooded trails and murky swamps on the ranch grounds.
As they attempted to navigate ‘Zombies' attempted to pull their flags. Runners did their best to protect the flags while inching closer to the finish line.
All those who took part in Saturday's event received a t-shirt – blood spatter optional – a finisher's medal and entry to a post-race ‘Apocalyptic Party,' complete with food and music.
Money raised also benefitted the Moffitt Foundation of Tampa Bay and the Shriner's Hospital for Children.
"Where else can you have this much fun while running for your life," asked Ken Corigliano, who took part in the run.
