FHP Investigators say Roberts was not wearing reflective clothing when he was hit and killed early Saturday morning.
ST. PETERSBURG (FOX 13) -
A 24-year-old Pinellas Park man was struck and killed by a Sports Utility Vehicle early Saturday on Gandy Blvd.
Dale Lee Roberts was pronounced dead at the scene just before 4 a.m.
According to a Florida Highway Patrol report Todd Parke was traveling east on Gandy in his 2006 Chevrolet Trail Blazer when Roberts appeared in the roadway in front him.
Due to the darkness the driver did not see the pedestrian. He was unable to avoid hitting the man.
Investigators say Roberts was not wearing reflective clothing and he failed to use a crosswalk. Parke, a 26-year-old New York resident, was not hurt. Neither was a female passenger in his vehicle.
No charges have been filed as the investigation continues.
Roberts is the 12th pedestrian to die on Pinellas County roads this year.
