When he saw the tragedy in Connecticut, Pastor Randy White wanted to help families. So the pastor of Without Walls International Church went to the Wal-mart on Gandy Blvd. to spread some holiday cheer.
"God's been good to me, he's blessed me and So I thought what better way, to honor these angels is to go somewhere where there might be some need. And randomly select people with children that we can help."
He walked through the aisles and randomly approached shoppers. What he told them shocked them: "I want to just bless you with some money."
He had thousands of dollars in his pocket.
"No prerequisite whatever, just reach out and say let's remember the spirit in which it was given, in honor of those 26 angels," he continued.
He handed out $50s and he handed out $100s.
He saw Brandy Tune down one aisle and offered her $100.
"Are you serious?" she asked, as tears welled in her eyes.
He's doing it in honor of the 26 people killed in Connecticut. On each bill he wrote, "In honor of the 26 angels, Pay It Forward."
Brandy Tune was thrilled.
"Amazed. I'm on a very, very tight budget. So this definitely helps. I can get those last gifts. Or even my husband and I can have a Christmas now."
White saw his good deed paid forward right on the spot. He gave money to Cheryl, who decided she didn't really need it. So she paid it forward to a young mom.
"It looks like you're grocery shopping for a big family. So if I give that to you, can you use that for your groceries?"
"Sure, thank you," was the grateful reply.
It was the second straight day that Pastor White went to that Wal-mart to hand out cash. He believes he gave out $3,000 in total.
Friday afternoon, his pockets were empty. But his heart was very full.
