GALLOWAY TOWNSHIP, N.J. (AP) -

A 16-year-old student has been arrested and charged with having an explosive device after police found electronic parts and chemicals at his home they say could have caused an explosion if mixed together.

Administrators called Galloway Township police to Cedar Creek High School around 2 p.m. Tuesday because of concerns about a student's behavior. Police say they took the youth to the police station, but that there were no indications he'd made threats or was a danger to anyone at the school.

When his home was searched, the electronic parts and several types of chemicals were found. Bomb sniffing dogs later were taken to the high school but nothing was located.

The student was charged with possession of a weapon, an explosive device, and placed in a youth detention center.
