An anonymous Facebook threat brought police to North Port High School on Monday.
According to the North Port Police Department, students alerted school resource officers about an anonymous posting made before 8 a.m. The author apparently made several threats to the campus, specifically that there might be explosives on site.
The school could not immediately verify the plausibility of the threat, so they called police. The Lee County Sheriff's Office sent three bomb-sniffing dogs to sweep the school.
NPHS staff has not made the decision to lock down the school or evacuate the campus, police say.
The investigation continues.
