LAKELAND (FOX 13) -
Jury selection is underway in the trial of a man charged with beating his wife to death with a baseball bat.
It happened in September of last year in Polk County. Detectives say Lawrence Dickey walked into his bedroom and killed his wife, then drove to a police station and turned himself in.
The victim, Beatrice Dickey, was the highest ranking civilian employee of the Polk County Sheriff's Office.
The couple had four children. Some of them are expected to testify Tuesday in the trial.
