Father, daughter jump from burning home

EAST POINT, Ga. -

Firefighters say a father and daughter jumped to safety from their burning East Point home overnight.  Fire crews arrived at the home on Gus Thornhill, Jr. Drive to find heavy smoke coming from the house.

According to fire crews, the father and his 16-year-old daughter jumped from the second story of their house.  The teen was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries, but her father was not hurt.

Investigators believe the fire was sparked by a Christmas tree that was plugged into an extension cord and left on overnight.
