Detectives with the Bradenton Police Department have a murder mystery on their hands.
A 31-year-old man was shot to death just after 3 a.m. as he sat in his car at the intersection of 27th St. and 13th Ave. East.
Rene Salinas was pronounced dead at the scene, the result of a single gunshot to the upper body. A passenger in the vehicle was not injured.
According to a Bradenton Police Department report officers were dispatched to the scene in response to a shots fired call. The witness told investigators that the shots came from a light-colored, four-door sedan.
BPD Captain Williams Merriman says the crime was not the result of a robbery or a road rage incident. It was a senseless random act of violence.
Salinas leaves behind a wife and five children.
No other suspect description is available at this time.
