A 31-year-old Tampa woman was arrested Saturday on animal cruelty charges.
Natasha Chamberlain was arrested just before 3 p.m. Saturday by officers with Hillsborough County Animal Services. She was booked into the Hillsborough County Jail where she is being held on a bond of $2,500.
According to a HCAS report a four-year-old female Great Dane was removed from Chamberlain's home after the agency received an anonymous tip that the dog was not being cared for.
Several attempts were made to reach Chamberlain to talk to her about the dog's condition. When the canine – named ‘Bubbles' - was taken from the residence he weighed 54 pounds investigators say.
‘Bubbles' has gained 14 pounds since she was taken from Chamberlain and appears well on her way to a full recovery both physically and mentally.
The suspect was arrested Saturday while on the job at International Plaza. The dog is not yet available for adoption but officials with HCAS hope to make that possible before the holidays.
Chamberlain is charged with one count of animal cruelty and one count of unlawful confinement or abandonment of an animal.
