Federal authorities are asking for the public's assistance in locating a fugitive with ties to Tampa Bay.
Scott Allen Harper Jr., 27, was indicted on cocaine trafficking charges in March 2011. Investigators have been attempting to locate him since that time.
According to a release from the United States Drug Enforcement Administration's Miami Field Division Harper was living in the Bay area when he was indicted but fled when he discovered charges were about to be filed against him.
He is facing one count of conspiracy to possess cocaine with intent to distribute. Four other defendants were also indicted and convicted for their involvement in the case.
Intelligence indicates the suspect may be living in South Florida but he allegedly returns periodically to Tampa to visit. If he is captured and convicted on the drug charges Harper may be facing a mandatory term of life in prison due to prior felony convictions.
The suspect is a white male, stands 5'7'' tall and weighs approximately 160 pounds. Harper has brown eyes, brown hair and a slim build. He has a $ sign tattooed on his left check and he has other tattoos on his neck including one that says ‘Bay Area.'
The suspect has an extensive arrest record that includes prior charges of burglary, trespassing, reckless driving, fleeing to elude and drug possession.
Authorities say Harper does not have a history of being violent but if you come in contact with him you should call law enforcement immediately.
If you have any information about Harper's location or activities please contact the DEA Tampa District Office at 813-380-0952.
