Mall braces for 'Gangnam Style'

TAMPA (FOX 13) -

He is the Korean megastar who is making his musical mark worldwide.  His name is Psy, and just about everyone has seen his video.

Psy was supposed to perform to perform at WFLZ's Jingle Ball concert at the Times Forum this Sunday.  But he got another offer that he couldn't refuse, and he took it: The White House asked him to take part in the national Christmas tree lighting ceremony in DC.

Rather than leave Tampa out in the cold, Psy decided to perform his wildly popular song 'Gangnam Style' at University Mall at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Everyone will be let into the event free.  People will also get a chance to win free tickets to the Jingle Ball the following night.

It's a lot of hoopla over a guy most Americans had never heard of before his big breakthrough recently.  The mall is expecting almost 4,000 people and a boost in sales.

"But I think more than that. It is going to be an opportunity to get people in the center that haven't seen the shopping center since we made our changes in 2008," offered the mall's Keily Potter.

It is certainly going to put University Mall in the spotlight, and that has storeowners and others dancing for joy.
