A Pasco County duck is now recovering after being shot with an arrow right through its side.
No one is sure who shot the duck, or why they did it.
Vets at the Zephyrhills Clinic said they treat ducks, pigeons and other domesticated birds all the time, but they've never seen anything like this.
"I don't know. Why does anyone do crazy things like that?" said veterinarian Jarrod Lazarus. "It's just one of those things. I mean, the duck was at a park, and somebody shoots an arrow at him. They're not going to eat the duck. They're just, who does things like this?"
Fortunately, the arrow missed the duck's neck and lugs. The arrow had razor blades on the edges, so it could have caused serious damage.
A Good Samaritan saw the duck and brought it to the clinic. Vets had to perform surgery, which they said went well.
