Citrus County commissioners will review a proposal Tuesday that would close community centers, libraries and the historic courthouse.
The proposal comes after Progress Energy Florida handed the county a $19 million payment on a $35 million tax bill, forcing the commission to scramble into an emergency budget-cut meeting.
The county and Progress Energy are at odds on the appraised value of some of Progress Energy's assets, so now the county and its citizens have watched $16 million dollars vanish from its budget.
The proposal was put together from county administrator who also proposed putting a freeze on vehicle purchases and 9 vacant positions. They also propose to limit travel and training, as well as reduce road resurfacing funding.
