Detectives with the Tampa Police Department are seeking information in a fatal hit-and-run that occurred early Saturday on Hillsborough Ave.
Omar James Jeter, 22, was pronounced dead at the scene just after 3 a.m.
According to a TPD report the victim was walking north along Hillsborough near Lincoln Ave. when he was struck by a dark-colored compact vehicle. Investigators say Jeter was not walking in the crosswalk at the time.
Several other vehicles passed through but failed to stop to render assistance to the deceased.
Investigators believe the vehicle that hit Jeter has extensive front end and windshield damage.
