A family of 10 people lost their home Friday morning in a terrible fire, but they say they're lucky to be alive.
The fire ripped through the home in Mulberry around 4 a.m., and if not for an open window, there could have been lives lost, family members said.
Four generations of family members were able to leave the home. When firefighters arrived, the home was fully engulfed.
"I heard my daughter screaming for everyone to get out," said Vonita Williams, who lives inside the home. "We were all inside … I saw the fire coming out of the room. I went back in the room and got my granddaughter out."
Breaking down in tears, Williams said she was thankful her family was alive. She also said an open window allowed air to get into the home.
The American Red Cross is now trying to find a place to stay.
