Rabid raccoon prompts scare in Hernando

Officials are sending out a health warning in Hernando County.

They say watch out for animals in the area. A raccoon that bit and scratched a teen and his dog has tested positive for rabies.

It happened Monday near Brookside Street in Spring Hill.

If you see stray animals in the area or wild animals with unusual behavior, call the Hernando County Sheriff's Office.
