Deputies have arrested a Polk County women after she escaped custody while being taken into jail Wednesday morning.
Vinzena Wardell fooled deputies into believing she was sick so she could get away from their grasp, but after bolting from outside the Bartow jail, she was caught hours later at the railroad tracks at Polk Street near Mill Avenue.
Wardell was initially arrested on several charges, including exploiting the elderly and scheming to fraud.
Authorities say as they were taking her into jail she started throwing up, and then as deputies tried to help her, she escaped.
"When she got through the gate she opened the door, and (the deputy) got out and started to chase her," said witnesses Davey Sexton. "He forgot to put it in park, and so he ran back to put it in park."
She took off and was on the run for hours. She now faces additional charges.
