Sports car shoot on Gandy Bridge called off

Posted: Updated:
TAMPA (FOX 13) -

The Gandy Bridge seemed like the perfect place to film a sports car zooming across it, but when spectators showed up, producers called it off.

The car is a Bugatti Veyron. It has a price tag of more than $2 million, and it goes incredibly fast – more than 230 miles an hour.

It was here for a taping of the British car show "Top Gear."

Crews were going to close down the Gandy Bridge to tape the Bugatti speeding across. But word of the shoot got out and drew a crowd, so they called it off.

The Bugatti did cruise the Crosstown from South Tampa to downtown at normal speeds.

There's no word yet if the shoot on the bridge will be rescheduled.
