Notre Dame took care of business Saturday night in Los Angeles, beating rival Southern California 22-13, cementing their place in the Discover BCS National Championship Game.
The Irish will all but definitely play the winner of the SEC title game between Alabama and Georgia. Despite Florida's win over Florida State, and their impressive record against the BCS top-12, they find themselves on the outside looking in.
The Gators can however sneak into the AllState Sugar Bowl if they surpass the loser of the Georgia-Alabama game in the final BCS standings.
"Obviously, would we want to play in the BCS National Championship Game, absolutely," Gators head coach Will Muschamp said Saturday after the win over Florida State. "But we've had a fantastic year. We have no one to blame but ourselves for not getting it done in Jacksonville."
