A 24-year-old Palmetto man is facing a variety of charges following a scuffle with his pregnant, ex-girlfriend Saturday afternoon.
Jeffrey Gonzalez was booked into the Manatee County Jail where he is being held on a bond of $29,500.
He is facing one count of domestic battery on a pregnant female, one count of marijuana possession, one count of robbery by sudden snatching and two weapons-related charges.
According to a Manatee County Sheriff's Office report the suspect and Kylie Lewis were traveling in a vehicle when they began to argue. Lewis, 23, is pregnant with Gonzalez's child and they split as a couple two months ago.
Lewis stopped the vehicle and Gonzalez got out. He went over to the driver side and told Lewis to get out. Investigators say he then grabbed the keys from the victim, jumped in the vehicle and fled.
The incident occurred in the 2400 block of Lehigh Ave. in Bradenton at approximately 3:45 p.m.
Several MCSO deputies were dispatched to the scene but were unable to locate the suspect. He was found about an hour later at his parent's home.
Gonzalez was in possession of a firearm and some illegal narcotics. He was arrested without incident.
Additional charges may be filed as the investigation continues.
