Two people were injured when a car and a police cruiser collided at a St. Petersburg intersection Friday afternoon.
It happened at Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Street North and 1st Avenue North around 2:30 p.m.
According to St. Petersburg Police, both cars entered the intersection at the same time and collided. Police say the stoplights were working properly, but did not say which car ran it. The media release also did not say whether the officer had lights and sirens going at the time, but did say the officer was on duty.
The officer, Bridget Voelker, was seriously injured and transported to Bayfront Medical Center.
The passenger in the other car was also seriously injured; no injuries were listed for the driver.
Charges are pending the outcome of the investigation.
