Former deputy in court on charges of sex with minor

A former Hillsborough County deputy accused of having sex with a minor was in court Tuesday.

William Best faces charges of sexual battery and lewd and lascivious battery on a victim under 16.

He was arrested earlier this year when the girl's mother reported her suspicions about the inappropriate relationship.

According to the arrest report, best's relationship with the girl began in January.

Jury selection in his trial will begin Monday.
